HAPPY ENDINGS

Rudy left a huge impression when he was here in late 2009. He was pulled from a local shelter where he had been picked up as a stray. He had a previous ACL injury that had gone untreated, likely for years. While he was here, Rudy had his ACL repaired, had a cancerous tumor removed, and now he is doing great in his forever home.

"Rainbow" was a little over 9 years old and weighed a mere 69 pounds when she was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri.  Rainy recently found her forever home and new pictures will be updated shortly.

Leroy was rescued from our local animal shelter where he arrived as a stray & was in danger of euthanasia.  He was about 10 months old, suffering from a severe skin infection & was quite skinny.

I didn't have any space at home to keep him so I stashed him at work for a few days.  A co-worker offered to foster Leroy through the holidays & until he was healthy & found a permanent home.

Within 2 weeks she told me that she & her husband wanted to adopt Leroy - they couldn't resist his charm!

Henry was adopted by the Maxwells in 2005..
The pictures above show him enjoying life with his "sister" Louise in 2008.

Maya was a 2 year old Presa Canario I fostered.  She kept me laughing, even after finding her on the counter!  She was so goofy, and I was head over heels about her!  Maya has since found a great home with a young male Presa.

This is one of my most SPECIAL rescue efforts and by far the most unique.  This old girl, Mara, is 9 years old. Last October, a lady contacted me desperate to get rid of "Mara the Mastiff."  She informed me that her awful husband up and left them both. She painted a horrible picture. I heard more than I really wanted to hear and took the dog into rescue. As I got to know Mara, something wasn't adding up. It was clear that she was a house dog, spoiled, and even had a collar with her previous dad's name and number on it. I contacted their veterinarian to find out that John, the previous owner, took excellent veterinary care of her and the vet explained to me that there was a nasty divorce going on. I suspected that Mara was possibly taken from John against his will. I called John (his number was on her collar) and talked to him about her a bit. I didn't let him know that I had her. From the conversation I could tell that he was heartbroken and lost without his Mara. I went with my gut instinct and informed John that I had his dog. His ex-wife had stolen Mara and signed her over to me. John applied to adopt his dog back and was, of course, approved with flying colors. John came to get her as soon as possible. He met me at my work. The reunion brought tears to everyone's eyes as John sat on the floor with Mara's front half in his lap, singing to her.

This adorable fluffy girl was pulled from a local shelter and was named "Darling" by her foster home.  We suspect she might have been abandoned by her breeder because she had long hair.  The people at the shelter thought she was a mixed breed, but long hair is a recessive gene in the Mastiff breed, and just a cosmetic fault.

This puppy was turned into rescue by his breeder - he was a "leftover" that they

couldn't sell.   His new family named him "Biggen" and he will be

a therapy dog for the new friend he is pictured with above.

Goliath, now called "Oli" by his new family, was adopted in early March, 2008.

Trinity

Trinity is a 6 year old Bullmastiff that was abandoned at a local shelter by her owner.  She had obviously been neglected & had 2 large, cancerous, mammary tumors.  She weighed 50 pounds the day I brought her home.

After surgery to remove the tumors & be spayed, Trinity bounced back & rapidly put on weight.  With the help of Bullmastiff Rescue, she's now in a forever home who loves & adores her.

Sasha     Noah

Sasha (fawn) & Noah (brindle) were 7 years old when they were owner-surrendered to rescue because their tails had become face level to the 4-year-old human child in the house.

Sasha & Noah were adopted together so they can live out their golden years without being separated.

Lola

Lola is a wonderful, sweet Mastiff who was 3 years old when her family moved away and left her behind.

She didn't remain in rescue very long - my roommate adopted her!

Sammy       Sammy

Sam, a 2-year-old Bullmastiff who was pulled from a local shelter along with his brother.  His brother was fostered & placed through Bullmastiff rescue.  I fostered Sammy here while Bullmastiff rescue found him a wonderful new home.  He was a fun foster dog!

Courtney & Monroe

Courtney & Monroe, pictured above, are happy in their new home.  This wonderful pair was rescued out of a local shelter by Blue Dog Rescue.  They are 5 years old & were surrendered by their owners.

Both dogs were heartworm positive.  Monroe had suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament.  Both dogs are doing great now and recovering well from surgery and heartworm treatment.

Thank you, Stuart, for giving these guys a wonderful home!!!

Bacon          Bacon

Bacon is supposed to be a Mastiff/AmStaff mix, but your guess is as good as mine!
Regardless of what he is, he's cute!  He was adopted in September 2007.

Sugar 7 1/2 years old

"Sugar Bear" was turned into rescue at 7 1/2 years old because her owner was moving.  She came with a torn ACL - and the name "Shocker."  We fixed both of those problems, haha, and after Sugar recovered from surgery she found her forever home!

Billy, September 2007

Brindle Billy is pictured above in his new forever home.
He joined his new family in September 2007.

Odie the DDB

Odie, a 2-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux, adopted in September 2007.  She shares her new home and her new dad with another 2-year-old DDB named Otis.

Monty

Monty, a 3 year old Bullmastiff pulled from a local shelter, has been adopted with the help of Bullmastiff Rescue.

Two-year-old Bullmastiff Lily now has a wonderful forever home.

Fluffy/Gracie, an Anatolian Shepherd/Mastiff mix, spent a LONG time at my house as a foster dog before finally finding the perfect new family.  I think she's happy now.  :o)

Not a Mastiff, but how could I say "No" to this face?  Becker the Saint found his new forever home in the summer of 2007.

4 of the 8 puppies between the ages of 3 and 6 months old that we rescued recently from a neglectful backyard breeder situation.  None of them were used to human contact at all.  With foster families who have been working extremely hard on socialization and basic training, these puppies are able to look forward to new lives with humans to love them.

Marcus in love     Cool dude Marcus

Marcus is one of the 8 puppies rescued from the neglectful situation.

An update from Marcus' new Mom:
"I just wanted to share with you in Marcus' progress.  He is doing so amazing, and he really is a happy, playful, lazy, content dog!  He's bringing so much happiness into our home!   I hope he's feeling the same.  (I can't help but think he is).  I actually brought him with me to my lake house this past weekend and he was the BEST dog ever.  He followed us around and played with us and just really enjoyed it all!   He didn't want to go back.  But it was good for him to see that we took him somewhere, stayed with him, and brought him back to his home."   ~ Jen

Bogart, who is loved and missed dearly by his adoptive parents, Alan & Alison.

3 rescues sharing a happy home: Thurston (fawn), Bogart (brindle), & Hercules (apricot)

Zeus & Friend

Zeus, rescued in 2006, poses with one of "his" occupational therapy patients.

Rocky    Rocky

Rocky and his favorite kids

Rocky was surrendered as a very sick & emaciated puppy, along with his parents and 2 littermates.  Sadly, his littermates weren't strong enough to survive.  Rocky joined the Johnsons at the end of 2006 and as you can see he is a much-loved member of the family.

Jewelz and family

Jewelz came into rescue in 2006 and was named Zora.  She is the mother of Rocky, pictured above.  Like her son, she found a family who loves and spoils her.

Henry, adopted in 2006, lives the good life with his one-eyed feline friend, Baby.
